The 6072 was designed as a "ruggededized" low noise version of the 12AY7. These EH 6072 / 12AY7, gold pin tubes utilize a "short plate" design giving them wide headroom and upper end transparency with low microphonics, perfectly suited for critical applications requiring the lowest noise and best articulation and clarity. These EH 6072 / 12AY7 gold pin tubes are recommended for tube microphones and microphone preamps as well as a lower gain substitution for 12AX7 preamp tubes.
